Thanks so much for your reviews. I'm debating between the TX7 and the TX5. I'm amazed by the TX7 low light capabilities and remember you said it performed better than the TX1. I know you said the TX5 is like the TX1, but looking at the specs, it looks like the lens may be more like the TX7. Looking at the specs, do you think the TX5 will perform more like the TX7 or the TX1 in low light?

Hi there, thanks for sharing all your impressions and hints regarding TX7 etc. Coming from a video backround I just wonder if this amazing small HD video cam has a auto focus that works also during you shoot a video. I have already a small canon ixus that has at least 720p but the big bummer is that the focus is adjusted but fixed after you started the movie recording. I am pretty much sure that the sony HX5V has this feature and I just hope that this smaller animal has this ability too. Thanks for some light on this !
Regards, Frank

Just watched and read your reviews of the TX7 - great work!

I also just watched your preview of the TX5. I was thinking about this camera as an alternative to the TX7 because of the toughness. Your comments about the TX7 being much better with low light video than the TX1 was a great find.

I'm hoping that the TX5 takes the same quality photos and videos (at least for the lower res 1280x720 video formats) as the TX7. If the TX5 has photo and video quality of the TX1, that would be a deal killer and I'd go for the TX7 in that case.

You commented that the TX5 is just a tougher version of the TX1, but I'm not so sure. I looked at SonyStyle.com and found out the following:
- The TX5 shares the same lens as the TX7 which is 25-100mm while the TX1 has a 35-140mm lens.
- The TX5 also seems to have the same battery as the TX7 while the TX1 has a different battery.
- The TX5 is closer in weight to the TX7 than the TX1.
- The TX5 has the same shutter speed range as the TX7, while the TX1 has a different rage.

So while the TX5 has the same video resolutions as the TX1, I'm hoping it will have the same photo quality and 1280x720 video quality of the TX7. I'm a little bummed about the mono mic on the TX5 though. I can live with the smaller and lower res screen on the TX5 since it won't affect the photo and video quality.

If you ever find out if the TX5 is like a dumbed down but tougher TX7 instead of simply a tougher TX1, I'd love to know.

Thanks again for your informative reviews

I clicked on the link on your Youtube review of the Sony TX7 and bought the camera off of Amazon. Thank you for the great review. I have one question about SD cards. Which card did you use? How fast does the 1080P video use up card space? My wife is taking the camera on vacation and I am not sure if I need a 32GB X6 card or not.
